About Kavanaugh House

Built in 1892, this East Lake Victorian was the home of Matthew Kavanaugh, the builder of San Francisco’s famous “Painted Ladies” on Postcard Row in historic Alamo Square. In 2014, a new family began restoring and updating this historic home. This site describes the journey to create a "modern Victorian" that honors the past while meeting the demands of a modern family.
